Historical Istanbul Peninsula

Istanbul is one of the unique cities of the world with one foot in Asia and one foot in Europe. Being the only city that served as the capital of 3 different empires: Ancient Rome, Byzantium and Ottoman Empire, the city continues to be the center of culture, art, architecture and politics for centuries.

WHERE DO THE HISTORICAL PENINSULA BORDERS COVER?

The historical peninsula of Istanbul is the part within the boundaries of today's Fatih municipality. Until 2008, it covered two districts as Fatih Municipality and Eminönü Municipality. In 2008, Eminönü municipality was abolished and its borders were included in Fatih Municipality. This place is also called the Historical peninsula and the Walled City. The region, which is surrounded by historical walls starting from the Golden Horn, continuing with the historical walls that intersect at Eyüp Sultan borders, reaching the borders of Zeytinburnu and joining the Marmara Sea, is called the historical peninsula. In short, Hali is the part surrounded by the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara. The western border is formed by the Historical Suras built by the Byzantines. There is the Sea of Marmara in the south, the Bosphorus in the east and the Golden Horn in the north.
